Q) Do you have, like, every record?
A) No. But we’re working on it (personally.)
Q) Do you have a giant warehouse full of records somewhere?
A) Define “giant?”
Q) I have my grandfather’s record collection I am trying to sell. Do you buy collections?
A) Sometimes. Was your grandfather cool as shit? Or was he watching The Lawrence Welk Show? Either way: reach out with some photos or a list of a few random records and we’ll talk.
Q) I need a big wall of records for my (house/party/event/photo shoot/Sweet Sixteen party/etc.) I don’t need to, you know…listen to the things. Can you do that?
A) Yes. This is absolutely something we do. You know how some Batman or Sherlock Holmes movie always has a scene where a character is sitting in their study surrounded by a mountain of books? Just like there are book suppliers, we are record providers. They are heavy. We can deal with all the logistics… you just point where you want them and tell us for how long.
Q) Do you have a WLP 6-eye of “Kind Of Blue?” The “Do It Yourself” single by The Grout? That Loose Joints 12” with the bizarro extended B-side? Etc.
A) Sometimes. Maybe. Often no. Occasionally yes. We are not a store (although we sometimes are.) We are detectives, spies, private investigators, brokers….Whatever it is, we’ll help you track it down.
Q) Can you please find me an original US pressing of The Gin Blossoms’ New Miserable Experience?
A) That’s a trick question… That album didn’t come out on vinyl until 2017. Nice try, though. (There is an OG promo-only 12” single for “Hey, Jealousy” that exists, if that helps.)
Q) Can you get me the [purple, bubblegum, glitter, oxblood, tri-color, etc.] limited edition variant of the [T. Swift, Springsteen, Blink-182, The Bug Club, etc.] record that was only available at [Target, Spotify, Walmart, End Of An Ear, Turntable Lab, Bandcamp, Rough Trade, Disney, etc.?]
A) Maaaaaaybe. Insiders agree that anywhere from 50-70% of those limited edition / pre-sale / Record Store Day / etc. editions are purchased by folks with no intention of playing the record, they just want to re-sell (flip) it at a profit. Entirely speculative, some of those releases immediately start selling for hundreds of dollars, while others end up eventually selling for less than list once the free market takes hold. The good news is that these records are ALWAYS available. The bad news is that the prices can sometimes be ridiculous. Of course, nobody can be on every mailing list, every txt marketing list, and constantly checking Instagram, Facebook, and record label websites for pre-order info… including us. The further in the future you know you want something, the better chance we have of helping you find it without paying as much as a Deep Groove Blue Note.
Q) Can I visit your store? What are the hours?
A) We do not have a storefront. This allows us to be nimble to travel and see collections, visit other stores/fairs/fleas/private collectors. Research is a big part of what we do. We are always an email away.
Q) Why are you such a poser?
